Works Great but Be Careful You Brute!
Just used my brolly for a 3-day hike in the mountains in which it rained torrentially for 3 days. Performed great in the rein. However I like to spin the raindrops off of the umbrella and managed to tweak the struts and crack the plastic clip that holds the umbrella. Was able to patch things together for rest of trip until last day in which we were dumped with 9 inches of snow. There was so much snow that I forgot where the brolly was and was long gone by the time I remembered it. I am purchasing another as it worked so well just be careful, because the struts and plastic are meant to be handled with care. Lesson learned and well worth it nevertheless!

trail tested
I rate this product excellent because it compares so well to other collapsibles. In truth I was hoping for more. After 3 months on Swiss trails mine is showing signs of wear. Small holes at the flex points. Somewhat less smooth operation opening and closing. Some of the structural elements popped out of place, and easily back in. Nothing to cry about and I expect to get a lot more use from it. It rains a lot in Switzerland and it comes with wind. The usual bargain counter brolleys wouldn't last long. If this one does breakdown or get lost I will consider another one but I will take a hard look at BirdiePal as well. Oh ya, the compass is too damn small for my old eyes.

I've used the big Chrome Dome when trekking in the US , and struggled with cheap silver umbrellas in Beijing and Southern China. I'm buying multiples of the new silver travel umbrella for use this year in Malaysia and Thailand. Hooray!
