Cleaning

  • Use a mild soap and a damp sponge to wipe the outside and inside of the pack. NEVER use detergents of solvents.
  • Stubborn stains may require scrubbing with a soft bristle nylon brush. Excessive cleaning may damage the protective coatings and is not recommended.
  • Contamination by organic materials - e.g. sweat and food - can be a serious concern if you are using the pack in areas where bears and/or rodents are common. Use McNett Mirazyme enzyme cleanser to neutralize these contaminants once you have washed the pack as described above.
  • NEVER tumble dry your pack – the heat may damage the protective coatings.
  • Be sure to completely air dry the pack by opening all zippers and roll-tops prior to storing. Always store your pack in a cool, dry place.

great pack with nice features

I was looking for a pack for a while. After trying many other packs that didn't cut the mustard, I came across this. Enough flexibility to take the extra 20 pounds of my girlfriend's stuff. Has held up quite well and I like that the bottle pockets are actually usable when packed.

nice jack of all trades

just saw one of these and was pretty impressed with the feature set and smart design. this is a great "go-to" pack if you just need to get someone into hiking. a great first pack in my opinion.

good pack

This is a good pack, it combines the load bearing capacity of an external with the lightness and body hugging an internal pack gives. I have stripped it down to about 40oz, but I am really good with sewing. It didn't really need the modifications, but I redo most of my hiking gear, sewing things on, cutting stuff off, ect. The main thing I like about this pack is that it has a very good load bearing feel. I haven't had a lot of weight in it, I usually travel pretty light, base weight 11lbs or so. The frame transfers the weight to the hips much better than packs that just have a framesheet. I don't think a hiker of any skill level can go wrong with this pack. It looks sturdy enough for years of use, as long as you aren't bushwacking through thornbushes constantly.

Great value for dependable gear

The first question in the description tells the story "Not ready to go ultralight yet?". This is a great product for those loyalists to framed packs. My personal weakness as a backpacker is my poor packing skills thus I don't want or desire to mess around with the balancing act needed for frameless packing. At 3lbs 8oz this is a pound and a half heavier than my ultralight buddies but I'll take it for three reasons: adjustable torso length (good luck finding that on a framed in this price range), flexibility for high weight ~60lbs (have you never had to carry out someone else's gear due to injury?), and quick compaction to get the load as close as possible to your back. Only negative I've seen is the lack of bottom zipper for access but at this price I'm willing to sacrifice that feature. 5 stars because of cost to benefit ratio.

Comfortable even fully packed

What a great pack! I first borrowed this from a friend for a 5 night trek through the Smokys on the AT. Even loading this pack down with a week's worth of food my waist & shoulders stayed in good order with heat spots far & between. If you need to load more gear than most of those ultralight packs will allow, this is a great alternative option without going overboard on pack weight.
