Pretty impressive that such a big tent can be had for a bit over 4 lbs! In practice, I've always used this for two people, tops- three would be a bit of a pinch, unless you're suspending the tent from above (tree branch!) or the third person is a kid or a very short adult. Even so, 4.3 lbs for a roomy 2 person tent isn't that bad. More than enough room for two adults and their gear. Middle tent pole has handled the toddler, no problem!

This is a fantastic tent. It is so roomy inside, we call it the circus tent! A few weeks ago, we took it backpacking with our kids. All 4 of us (2 adults and 2 kids) comfortably fit inside to play cards. I can't imagine doing that with any of the other backpacking tents we own. It is also versatile in the fact it is light enough for solo backpacking but big enough for car camping with 2 people and gear.

I love to use this tent for solo camping and backpacking. Easy to set up and fantastic for (1). I usually use it with only fly sheet- but have used the nest with my wife. Buy- you won't be disappointed.

This is a great lightweight option for backpacking. Easy to set up, lightweight and downright spacious for one, and plenty of room for two with gear. This is my first entry into the world of tipis. I like the design and the roominess.
I mentioned, easy to set up, no more fiberglass poles threaded through keepers then adding a rain fly. Just one center pole.(which is my only gripe, the center pole gets in the way) Even the center pole can be left out and the tipi pitched from a convenient overhead branch.
It can be used floorless without the nest bringing the weight to slightly over 2 pounds. Talk about a lightweight! Also, muddy boots, leaves, pine needles etc are not a problem.
However, in warmer months the nest is handy for keeping out the creepy crawlies.
It can be pitched off the ground for ventilation or tight to the ground for warmth. It is versatile, lightweight and a winner! I'd recommend for anyone wanting a spacious lightweight. (I need a SL5 now!)

Boyfriend and I have grown up camping in high mountain elevations. We also do a lot of backpacking.
What we looked for: shapious, tall, 4 season, very light, affordable. This tent only has 1 pole. Hiking pole can be used instead of tent pole. FLy and nest is split between us for about 1.5 lb. of weight between the two of us. My boyfriend is over 6 feet tall while I am 5 feet tall. With 75liter and 55 liter backpacks and the two of us, we still had room inside! We both sleep on one side of middle pole. It is a 3 person tent that is far lighter than 2 person tents. In wind, the tent doesn't move! Fly can be staked down in corners(6) and middle of sides(5). Plus half way up can be roped down(6). Snow slides right off. Loops are reflective so you can find it in the dark. Also there is a loop on top so you can string a rope through and hang from trees without use of pole. 3 vents on top can also be closed.Couple of minutes of staking down and done. BEST TENT EVER OWNED!
