Definitely not for the ultralight crowd because of the massive volume (obviously). However, hauls huge or bulky loads with ease, very comfortably. And cinches down with the compactor system when you lose some of that load or consume it (water/food/etc).
I won't use this that often because I don't need the volume often, but I'm definitely keeping this pack around for cold winters and trips where I haul others' gear as well as mine.

So far, I have had this out for three overnighters and several day hikes where I used the Compacktor. Loads ranged from 20 to 48 pounds. Hands down, this is the most comfortable pack I have ever worn. Once I had the suspension dialed in to perfectly match my torso and hips, weight transfer, load control and overall comfort were excellent, whether hiking on smooth trails or bushwhacking over deadfall. This is my first GoLite pack and I couldn't be more pleased. I took a flier because of the great price. It is replacing several name brand packs that weigh at least two pounds more and cost more than three times what I paid for the Terrono. Durability, which is a concern because of the lighter materials, appears to be excellent. My only constructive feedback for GoLite is please don't discontinue it! It's a great pack for backpackers who aren't really ready to "go light" but want an outstanding load hauler that is a several pounds lighter than what they are currently using.

This was an excellent pack for what I paid, and at current price it is unmatched. To get an item of this quality at this price is simply amazing. This pack has accompanied me to Zion and Buckskin Gulch/ Paria Canyon and Acadia, among other spots, and it has been a winner. Side pockets are very strong and flexible. Very tough and durable overall. Love the large volume which I find very handy, and weight on many trips is always more than I would wish, but this pack carries it well. Only dislike- I tend to use the Compacktor cinched up because I think bulky stuff in the bottom tends to stick out too far otherwise- but it is not an issue because the pack has so much space. This is one sweet deal.

I used this pack on a 6 day 5 night backpacking trip through Yosemite and it was by far the most comfortable pack I have ever used. We backpacked hard and this thing took it all! The twin side belt pockets are great for storing a camera/gps or a granola bar. It stored all of my gear easily and never let me down. Great pack
Kudos to Go Lite
